The Deck Continues

8:25 PM

Almost one month ago, we decided to get a move on it if we wanted a new deck this year.

We were thrilled to find an affordable design that is traditional and attractive.  My good friend Jerry Clay will be building it as soon as Miss Utility stops by.  Jerry worked with us on the design and layout.  He made some suggestions and we met in the middle.  I cannot wait to see what the end result will be.

Right now, this is what it looks like.  We’ll be adding a patio on either side of the steps after all is said and done.

I had talked about taking the deck down ourselves as a more economic option, but I’m so glad we didn’t do it.  Turns out the deck was drilled down instead of nailed down.  When you only have one drill, only one person can work on the screws.  My husband would have been very annoyed.  (I tried not to watch when Jerry and his guy took out the screws.  Don’t think they were very happy about it , but didn’t hear a complaint!)

I’ll keep you posted and will give you Jerry’s info after all is complete.  Can’t let you take him away from me just yet!

  2. Good luck with it! We need to re-do ours too - boards are peeling paint and curling up at the ends. It's really bad but we have sooo many other projects going on! And once we start the deck, we'll need to do other connecting parts! I can't wait to see the finished pics!
