Toolman Thursday- Dog Guard10:09 PM
I have some good news and some bad news for those who have a Contain-A-Pet invisible fence. If you haven’t discovered by now, Contain-A-Pet has gone out of business in Richmond. When you try calling their toll-free number, you will reach a full voicemail box. If you try contacting any other numbers, chances are you will not get a voicemail at all.
I tried to stay patient the first couple of times because I had JUST talked to them a few weeks before. I explained that I would be moving and that I wanted to set up new service at my new home. The red flag should have gone up when they told me to call back the day I moved.
The good news is that if you do have your receiver and collar, you are not entirely out of luck. Dog Guard is helping Contain-A-Pet customers. They can install your wiring for you if you have all of the parts.
The bad news is that they will not be able to make any repairs. If your receiver goes out, you’re out of luck.
The good news is that they will install the wiring for half the price of a new fence.
The bad news is that you won’t receive the nice reminder to change the collar battery.
The good news is that you won’t have to pay the annual fee to maintain your fence.
My advice would be to go with your gut on this one. My gut told me to use Dog Guard to install the new wiring. Our fence wasn’t very old. I hope to continue to replace my battery every 6 months and still have a safe and healthy dog for as long as I can.
If you don’t have an invisible fence at all and you have a curious dog, call Dog Guard anyway. These guys do an excellent job.
