The Power of a Picture

8:25 AM

We all know the reality that it’s a Buyer’s market in real estate these days.  Interest rates have dropped again; prices are right; choices are abundant.  Why are there photographs of listings with dated interiors?  This morning I thumbed scrolled through photograph after photograph of exposed wood-paneling, mustard-colored appliances, faded walls and much more.  Buyers are looking for homes that don’t need any repairs or upgrades.  If you don’t take care of your home, 9 times out of 10 they will move onto the next on their list.  If you want to get the return you feel you deserve, repair the tile in your bathroom; paint your dining room; etc.

To attract these buyers after you have upgraded and made necessary repairs, stage your home.  There are homestaging companies out there who will assist you.  Richmond Home Staging and Redesign, Inc. is very active on Facebook.  Pam Bosetti will also post photographs of her work on her website.  Now you have more exposure!

Better upgrade but not an awesome photo
Make sure your REALTOR® captures all of these updates with better photographs of your home.  Make sure there are plenty of pictures of your home available to the public on-line.  A Buyer or Buyer’s Agent ALWAYS finds your home on-line first.  A photograph gives a preview of your home.  You don’t want an agent writing about how horrible your home looks on her blog!
Excellent photography
