Original Sloppy Joes

8:38 AM

I try to buy ground turkey when it’s on sale and freeze it.  It’s a great surprise when I forget about it!  I open the freezer on those mornings I haven’t planned a meal and voila!  We’re having spaghetti or Sloppy Joes.  I always have onions on hand and all of the other stuff needed for this Quick and Easy Dinner.  You will too and your kids will be happy.  In some cases your dog will thank you as well.  Our dog has replaced the mop on many occasions.
What You Will Need and Already Have:

1 lb ground turkey
1 C tomato juice or a 10 oz can of tomato sauce
1 T grill seasoning
1 large yellow onion, chopped
2 T brown sugar
1 T Worceshire sauce
English muffins
1 large skillet
1 green pepper (optional)
Baking sheet
mustard
1)      Preheat broiler to high.
2)      Add turkey and onion to skillet over medium-high heat.  Cook until no longer pink.
3)      Add tomato juice, brown sugar and grill seasoning.  Bring to a boil and then simmer for 10 minutes.

4)      Half English muffins.  Place on baking sheets and broil for 2 minutes.
5)      Serve Sloppy Joes over top of English Muffins, garnish with mustard.

  2. I do the exact same thing! But it's usually either tacos, spaghetti, or sloppy Joes. I've never actually made them from scratch though {I save Sloppy Joes for when I'm being exceptionally lazy}, so I might need to use your recipe.

Stopping by from FTLOB. Hope you're having a wonderful Sunday!
