Tree With Lots of Leaves

Keep a green tree in your heart and perhaps a singing bird will come.
- Chinese proverb

I don’t know about you, but there are lots of leaves in our yard.  We’ve already mowed at least three times and I’ve had some time to rake at least half a dozen times.  You can’t tell we’ve done anything!
I absolutely love the Fall and all of the colors in the trees, but the leaves falling is another story.  I’ve tried to come up with a few different techniques to make their removal as painless as possible.

1)      Mow them.  This is actually not so bad for your yard.  It allows the ground up leaves to go back into the soil as a form of fertilizer.
2)     When you bag your leaves, you can spread them as mulch.
3)     Spread a large tarp over one area and rake onto the tarp.  Dump along the road. (Not ON the road)
4)     Sweep leaves off of your patio or deck every day.
5)     Rake leaves downhill. DUH.
6)     If you don’t already have one, purchase a blower with a strap.  It’s worth the investment and saves your back.
7)     Be sure to rake when your City tells you to.  They won’t come back and you’ll be fined for dumping yard waste in your ditch.
