Festive Spice Cookies

According to the internet and television, the holidays are here!  They’re not everybody; you have plenty of time left.  Try making these cookies for family or friends.  I guarantee you these will become a family favorite.  You will most likely have all of the ingredients on hand and your house will smell delightful BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS!
You can add these to your options for Cookie Season!
What You Will Need:
Red and green sugar for decorating
What You Might Have at Home:
¾ C unsalted butter (softened)
1 C sugar
1 egg
¼ C molasses
2 C flour
1 T ground ginger
2 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
Large bowl
Medium bowl
Hand mixer
2 cookie sheets, lined with parchment paper
2 small bowls
Cooling racks
Cookie tins
1)      Preheat oven to 350˚.
2)      Separate red and green sugars into two small bowls.
3)      In large bowl, beat butter and 1 cup sugar until smooth.  Add egg and molasses and mix with hand mixer.
4)      In medium bowl, mix flour, cinnamon, salt and baking soda.  Add to molasses mixture 1/3 at a time; beat with hand mixer on slow setting.
5)      Roll dough into 1 inch balls and roll in red and green sugars.
6)      Place on baking sheets and bake for 10 minutes or until browned.
7)      Cool on racks and store in air-tight containers.
